# Aleo Miners

Privacy in blockchain has always been a difficult problem to solve properly. Most privacy coins bolt anonymity on top of an existing public ledger design as an afterthought. Aleo took a fundamentally different approach; it was built from scratch using zero-knowledge proof technology called zkSNARKs, which allow the network to verify transactions without revealing any of the underlying data. Sender, receiver, and amount are all hidden, not through obfuscation but through mathematics. That is a real engineering achievement, and it has attracted serious developer interest and hardware investment from two of the most credible ASIC manufacturers in the altcoin space.

Mining Aleo means running zkSNARK-based proof generation on a computationally specific workload that GPUs handle inefficiently compared to purpose-built ASIC chips. The arrival of dedicated Aleo ASICs was a significant moment for the network because it marked the shift from hobby-scale mining to industrial-grade hardware competition.

IceRiver has established itself as the market leader for Aleo ASIC hardware. Its AE series covers the full spectrum of operator needs. The AE1 Lite at 300 MH/s and 500W runs at a remarkable 1.67 J/MH efficiency and only 45dB of noise, making it one of the few serious mining ASICs genuinely suited to a home environment. The AE2 doubles down with 720 MH/s at 1,300W and maintains the same 1.66 J/MH efficiency, making it the highest-output IceRiver Aleo miner and the clear choice for operators running larger setups. The compact AE0 at 50–60 MH/s and just 100W is the quietest entry point available for anyone wanting to test the Aleo network without committing to high-power infrastructure.

Goldshell brings its own take on Aleo ASIC hardware through the AE Box II and the AE Max. The AE Max at 360 MH/s and 3,300W is aimed at commercial operators who prioritize output rather than home-friendly power levels. The AE Box II at 54 MH/s is the compact option for home miners who want Goldshell's build quality applied to Aleo mining in a low-noise, low-power package.

Aleo's mainnet launched in September 2024, and mining on dedicated ASICs has continued to grow steadily since. The network's unique privacy use case and active developer community give it meaningful long-term relevance in the zero-knowledge space.
